About

Hello, I’m Leo!

I’m a Chicago-based writer originally from the cornfields of rural Illinois. Though I don’t have a farm, nor did I ever participate in ride-your-tractor-to-school day, my move to the city taught me this: words have power. They can bridge worlds and help people make sense of their surroundings, no matter where they are. My goal is to tap into the power of language to engage, inspire, and drive action.

From my master’s degree in Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse (WRD) with a concentration in Professional & Digital Writing, to my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and WRD from DePaul University, I have been focusing on building my expertise in copy and content writing. My decisively analytical perspective and strong research skills bring a strategic edge to every creative project.

Words linger on—and that’s what excites me the most about writing. Whether I’m creating compelling content, deploying a memorable brand voice, or translating complex ideas into clear and accessible copy, I think about what underlies my message and work to ensure I’m promoting a better world. My experience grant writing for the Darren B. Easterling Center for Restorative Practices, an organization focused on providing trauma-informed and evidence-based care to Black Chicagoan communities most affected by gun violence, instilled in me a belief in the ability for words to make a concrete difference.

Beyond writing, I’m always designing something new—drawings, chess tactics, and crosswords for my friends. For me, being creative and solving problems aren’t just fun; they’re how I explore the world and resonate with the people in it.
